A Message From Chancellor Brian McCall, Ph.D.
On behalf of the administration, faculty, staff and students of the Texas State University System, welcome to our website! It is an honor serve as chancellor of Texas’ oldest and third-largest university system, especially at this important time in our system’s history. In 2011, the Texas State University System will celebrate 100 years of educational excellence and service to the people of Texas.
Since its founding in 1911, the Texas State University System has been committed to helping Texans achieve their goals by providing affordable, accessible, high-quality educational programs. Established as a group of teachers’ colleges in the early 1900s, we have grown into an extensive network of higher education institutions offering a wide variety of programs and degrees.
Today, the eight colleges and universities of the Texas State University System serve more than 72,000 students from Big Bend Country to the Gulf Coast and from the Rio Grande to the Piney Woods. Our campuses truly reflect the diversity of Texas and provide a unique environment where students can learn, grow and be inspired.
For the past century, the Texas State University System has worked to create a tradition of excellence in higher education. As chancellor, I am committed to continuing this tradition of excellence while finding new opportunities to help Texans compete and succeed in an increasingly globalized and technology-driven economy.
The future of Texas depends on the success of our higher education institutions. As the Texas State University System embarks upon its Centennial anniversary, please join me in celebrating our success over the past 100 years while we work together to build an even better university system for future generations of Texans.
Brian McCall, Ph.D.
Chancellor
