Chancellor Charles Matthews will be testifying before the Senate Finance Committee regarding the damage caused by Hurricane Rita in the Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange area.
Since the storm hit in September, the System office has worked with the faculty, staff, and students of all the Lamar components in making sure that the Fall 2005 semester would continue. Today, the classes are taking place and the semester will commence in its entirety.
“The Presidents of these campuses are to be praised for their foresight in closing before the storm hit and in their efforts in rebuilding these campuses, nothing short of a miracle,” stated Matthews.
