MELL - Mathematics for English Language Learners

The Texas State University System Mathematics for English Language Learners (TSUS MELL) project is a multi-year effort developing instructional resources designed to increase the effectiveness of mathematics instruction for English language learner students in K-12 schools. The project is a partnership between The Texas State University System, its component universities and the Texas Education Agency.

MELL initiative activities are focused in five areas:

• Identifying and developing instructional tools
• Creating professional development
• Conducting applied classroom-based research
• Extending best practices to university-based teacher training programs
• Guiding policymakers

Resources developed by the project are available to all schools and universities in Texas. These resources and additional information on the TSUS MELL initiative are available at the MELL website.
