William Patterson (2010)
William C. Patterson was raised in Richardson, Texas by his parents Greg and Lynda. In high school, Clay was active in sports, academics, and boy scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout shortly before graduating from J.J Pearce High School in the spring of 2003.
In May of 2003, he enlisted as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from the School of Infantry, he was sent to his unit, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Throughout his enlistment, he deployed to Haiti, Iraq, and Lebanon. Sergeant Patterson was awarded the combat action ribbon, the national defense medal, the good conduct medal, the armed forces expeditionary medal, the Iraqi campaign medal, the Global war on terrorism expeditionary and service medals, two humanitarian service medals, and two sea service ribbons.
After completing his military service in 2007, Clay enrolled as a freshman at Texas State University- San Marcos. Since then, he has served as Vice President of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity – Texas Mu chapter, Chief justice of the Associated Student Government, fundraising chair of the Texas State University Student Foundation, and co-founder and President of the Veteran’s Alliance. Clay is a international business junior. He is currently the President of the Texas State University Student Foundation and a member of the TSUS Board of Regents.
