The Christmas Mountains range is a rugged 9,200 acre tract of land in the Big Bend region of West Texas. Acquired by the Texas State University System in 2011, the Christmas Mountains provide research and learning opportunities for faculty and students across the System who are interested in studying the area's wildlife and plant species, archaeological sites, and geological features. Known as the largest open air-classroom in Texas, the land is open and available to all who want to enjoy its unique natural resources.
