Lamar State College-Orange

Lamar State College-Orange has been providing quality educational opportunities for more than 38 years.  From what began as a remodeled elementary school in 1969, LSC-O has grown to a six-building campus and brought life to downtown Orange.  A dedicated faculty and staff provide personal attention to all students and strive to maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere.

As a two-year college, Lamer State College-Orange offers educational opportunities to all citizens through an open-door policy that admits all students who can benefit from post-secondary education.  LSC-O provides academic transfer and associate degree programs to prepare students for senior colleges and universities and technical certificate and associate degree programs to prepare students for quick and successful entry into the local workforce.

The Business and Technology division works closely with the industries of Southeast Texas to offer the training and education necessary to prepare students for their future careers.  The partnerships created have proven to be valuable to the growth of the college and the success of the students.

The Allied Health division offers associate degrees in medical laboratory technology and upward mobility nursing, as well as certifications in dental assisting, pharmacy technology, emergency medical response and vocational nursing.  LSC-O’s highly successful and respected LVN and RN nursing programs continue to help satisfy the national shortage of nurses with both programs having a 100 percent graduate placement rate.

The Education division offers two state-board approved degree programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. The associate degrees are fully transferable to any public four-year Texas institution of higher education offering baccalaureate degrees in teaching or education. For individuals with bachelor degrees seeking Texas public school teaching certification, the Accelerated Certification for Educators (ACE) Program, an alternative route to certification, has one of the highest student completion rates in the state.
