Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College is an upper-division institution of higher education that has been offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees to the surrounding communities for the past 33 years. SRSU RGC offers the lowest tuition and fees in the state and also ranks seventh in the state in graduating Hispanic teachers.
SRSU RGC offers courses along the Texas-Mexico border in Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde. Located on the campuses of Southwest Texas Junior College in each city, SRSU RGC offers students the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degree program. |

This vital partnership serves a critical need in the 13-county Middle Rio Grande region by providing access to educational opportunities for a student population that is 80 percent Hispanic and 75 percent female. The average age of students is 31 and more than 75 percent of incoming students are first generation college graduates.
Beginning operation in 1973, SRSU RGC has transitioned from an evenings-only center serving a non-traditional, part-time student population to an important full-service institution offering a significant opportunity to a region of Texas largely underserved by higher education.
SRSU RGC provides the training for a significant portion of the public school employees in the region. The SRSU RGC Department of Education has a 98 percent passage rate of its students on the state teacher certification exam. SRSU RGC is one of the largest producers of Hispanic teachers in the state. The modern classrooms, laboratories, library and other facilities at SRSU RGC are technologically equipped for a first-rate education, and students experience an average class size of 21. With a faculty and staff committed to student success, they have an added advantage toward reaching their career goals. |
