TSUS Board of Regents Re-Elects Charlie Amato Chairman

The Board of Regents of The Texas State University System today re-elected Charlie Amato as chairman of the board and Donna N. Williams as vice chair. Amato and Williams were re-elected unanimously during the Board of Regents meeting held on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

TSUS Establishes Institute to Study and Control Invasive Species

Texas State University System Chancellor Brian McCall, Ph.D., today announced the creation of the Institute for the Study of Invasive Species (ISIS), the first comprehensive research effort in Texas focused on the early detection and elimination of multiple invasive species. Housed at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, ISIS will draw from the experience of more than 40 researchers throughout The Texas State University System.

Gov. Perry Appoints William F. Scott to TSUS Board of Regents

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed William F. Scott of Nederland to the Texas State University System Board of Regents for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2013.

Texas State University System Accepts Christmas Mountains
September 15, 2011
Texas State University System Chancellor Brian McCall, Ph.D., and Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson today announced the transfer of the Christmas Mountains to the Texas State University System. The rugged 9,269-acre tract of land in Brewster County will become an outdoor classroom, open to all, with conservation of the land guaranteed forever.

TSUS Bond Sale Funds Projects at Texas State, Sam Houston State

The Texas State University System sold more than $86 million in bonds yesterday to fund campus construction projects at Texas State University-San Marcos and Sam Houston State University. Proceeds from the sale, including $6 million in bond premium, totaled $92.7 million.

Texas Senate Adopts Resolution Commemorating TSUS Centennial
May 16, 2011
The Texas Senate today adopted House Concurrent Resolution 100, which commemorates the centennial of the Texas State University System. The resolution, authored by House Higher Education Committee Chairman Dan Branch (Dallas) and sponsored by Senate Higher Education Committee Chairwoman Judith Zaffirini (Laredo), marks the 100th anniversary of the System’s founding in 1911.

Gov. Perry Appoints Ryan Bridges Student Regent for 2011-12 Term

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed 10 student regents to their respective university systems, and one student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for terms effective June 1, 2011, to expire May 31, 2012.

Dr. Perry Moore Named Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

Texas State University System chancellor Brian McCall, Ph.D., announced today that Dr. Perry Moore has been selected as the system’s vice chancellor for academic affairs. As the university system’s chief academic officer, Dr. Moore will oversee academic program planning and review, curriculum development, and academic standards and policies for the System and its eight component institutions.
