The Texas State University System today launched a new online application that allows students, parents, and the public to access information about the university system’s performance in key areas. While much of the data featured in the dashboard is available elsewhere, this new application provides information in a format that is easy to navigate and understand.

Robert J.C. McLean, university professor of microbiology at Texas State University, has been named a Regents’ Professor by the Texas State University System Board of Regents. The designation honors exceptional and outstanding members of the System’s professoriate who have achieved excellence in teaching, research and publication, and community service, while demonstrating an unwavering dedication to their students, their university and their community.
TSUS Board of Regents Elects Williams Chairman, Mitchell Vice Chairman

The Texas State University System Board of Regents today elected Donna N. Williams of Arlington as chairman of the board for the 2012-13 term. Williams was elected during the board's quarterly meeting on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
Dr. Sam Monroe Recognized as Longest-Serving College/University President

Governor Rick Perry has recognized Lamar State College-Port Arthur President Sam Monroe as the longest-serving president of a Texas higher education institution. Gov. Perry presented Dr. Monroe with a certificate of recognition during a meeting in the Governor's Office last week.

SRSU Rio Grande College, SWT Junior College Partner to Offer $10,000 Degrees

Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College and Southwest Texas Junior College have entered into an agreement to offer bachelor’s degrees in biology, chemistry and mathematics for $10,000. The “10K Scholars Program” was developed in response to Gov. Rick Perry’s call for low-cost degrees during the 82nd Legislative Session.

Gov. Perry Appoints Andrew Greenberg Student Regent for TSUS

Governor Rick Perry has appointed Andrew Greenberg to the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System for a one-year term as student regent. Greenberg, a political science and communication major at Lamar University, is one of 10 student regents appointed by the governor to serve as non-voting members of the governing boards of various public universities and university systems in Texas.
Texas State University Upgraded to Emerging Research University

Texas State University-San Marcos has been reclassified as an Emerging Research University by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. University officials were notified of the reclassification on Thursday, Jan. 12.
