Wilkinson (2011)
Greg Wilkinson, a lifelong Dallas resident, has been in the construction business since 1971. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and completed graduate programs in business at Penn State University and Southern Methodist University: He has been a registered professional engineer in Texas since 1972.
Mr. Wilkinson has experience in construction estimating, design engineering, sales/marketing and overall business management. He spent eleven years with one of the largest construction / engineering firms in the world: Fluor-Daniel. He held the position of Division Manager Sales for several years and gained the distinction of creating a large volume of new business from scratch for a new division office of Fluor-Daniel. As a result of this sales success, he was appointed Division Manager-Operations of the Dallas Division in 1980. In 1982 at the age of 35, he was promoted to Vice President of Fluor-Daniel and became one of the youngest Vice Presidents the Company had ever had.
In mid 1985 he became the co-majority shareholder and President of Hill & Wilkinson, Ltd. A Dallas based general contractor. At the time annual revenue was approximately $10,000,000. His skills in marketing and overall management have been instrumental in the growth of the Company. Today the Company's annual revenue in general building construction is over $180,000,000.
Mr. Wilkinson and his Company won Entrepreneur of The Year recognition in 1991 for the Dallas - Fort Worth area. This award is given by Ernst & Young, Inc. Magazine, and Merrill Lynch.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Greg Wilkinson has been active in civic and professional organizations
for many years.
Some of the organizations he has been active in are:
Boy Scouts of America - Assistant Scoutmaster Troop 80 from 1986 thru 1994. Also, Troop Committee Chairman from 1989 to 1991. Scoutmaster in 1992. Member and Officer Board of Directors of Circle Ten Council 1998 - present. Received the highest volunteer award – Silver Beaver Award (2005).
Associated Builders and Contractors (20,000 members nationwide) - President of North Texas Chapter for two years in the early 1980's. Served on Board of Directors five years. Held various committee responsibilities such as Chairman Membership Committee.
Associated General Contractors (600 local members) - Held various committee responsibilities such as Chairman AIA-AGC Liaison Committee and Chairman - Special Events Committee. Served on Board of Directors 1999 - 2002.
United Way - Metropolitan Dallas - Held several positions including Chairman - Construction and Real Estate Division and Vice Chairman for two years in the Construction and Real Estate Division. Has led Hill & Wilkinson, Inc. to be a United Way Pacesetter giver for many years.
Highland Park Dads Club - A nominated member of the Central Dad's Club for three years. This is an organization which provides funds and support to schools in the Highland Park School District. President of the Dads Club at McCulloch Middle School and Treasurer of Central Dads Club.
YMCA - Youth Sports - A nominated member of the committee which managed a year round program for approximately 1,000 grade school children in the Park Cities.
Park Cities YMCA Fund Raising Campaign - Team Captain for 1989, 1990, 1991 of this annual effort which raises over $200,000 for the YMCA. Division Chairman for 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000.
Park Cities YMCA - Board of Directors 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Long Range Planning Committee for Highland Park School District - Nominated to be on committee that created long range plan for this school district which has 5,000 students.
Leadership Dallas Class of 1987 - Selected to participate in this year long training program for Dallas leaders.
Steering Committee - Jack Rains For Governor Campaign - 1990.
Sloan Foundation - Board of Directors 1997, 1998, and 1999. A construction industry research organization funded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Highland Park Education Foundation - Board of Directors 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997.
Dallas Real Estate Council – 1998, 1999 and 2000 Board of Directors.
Salesmanship Club of Dallas – 1999 - present
YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Properties Committee – Board 2002 – present.
Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation – Board of Trustees 2003 - present.
Texas State University System – Board of Regents 2005 - present. Appointed by Gov. Rick Perry for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2011.
