English Withdraws from Lamar Presidential Search (2/28/13)

(AUSTIN) – One of the four finalists selected in the search for Lamar University’s next president has withdrawn from the process, narrowing the field of candidates to three. John R. English, Ph.D., dean of the College of Engineering at Kansas State University, withdrew from the search for personal and professional reasons. The three remaining finalists are:

Kenneth R. Evans, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Business
University of Oklahoma

Gregg Lassen, J.D., Ph.D.
Vice President for Finance and Operations
Lamar University

Carl Stockton, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
University of Houston Clear Lake

The three finalists will participate individually in several forums with students, faculty and staff March 7 on the Lamar campus. Additionally, the public is invited to meet the finalists during a reception March 7 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. in the University Reception Center on the 8th floor of the Mary and John Gray Library.

Texas State University System Chancellor Brian McCall is expected to recommend a sole finalist to the TSUS Board of Regents by the end of March. More information about the presidential search can be found online at http://www.lamar.edu/about-lu/presidential-search/index.html.
