(AUSTIN) – Dr. Brian McCall, chancellor of the Texas State University System, announced effective today that Daniel Harper has been promoted to vice chancellor for finance. Harper, who has served as TSUS’s deputy vice chancellor for finance since 2012, will succeed Dr. Roland Smith, who is retiring from the System after 12 years of service.
As vice chancellor for finance, Mr. Harper will be responsible for the System’s financial management, including budget, treasury, debt management, and risk management functions affecting the System and its eight component institutions. He will also assist the System with budget and policy issues before the Texas Legislature.
Prior to his arrival at TSUS, Harper spent eight years in the Texas Senate Finance Committee, focusing on education-related budget and policy. He received his B.A. in Economics from Austin College and his M.B.A in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.
