(AUSTIN) – Texas State University System Foundation Chairman Charlie Amato announced today that Mike Wintemute has been named executive director of the TSUS Foundation, a non-profit corporation which provides financial support to TSUS and its eight member institutions.
Wintemute, deputy vice chancellor for marketing and communications at TSUS, will assume the executive director position Oct. 1 while continuing to serve as the system’s chief communications officer. Mike joined TSUS in 2010 as a member of the governmental relations team. He previously served as communications director in the Office of the Texas Lieutenant Governor and worked in the executive and legislative branches of state government in California.
Wintemute will succeed Pat Tibbetts, Lt. Col., USAF (Ret.), who is retiring after four years as executive director of the Foundation. During his tenure, Tibbetts was instrumental in creating new scholarship and awards programs at the Foundation, including the Regents’ Scholar and Regents’ Teacher awards, and the Edmund Kuempel Scholarship program.
The Foundation, a public, nonprofit corporation, was established by the Board of Regents in 1977 to provide financial support to the Texas State University System and its member institutions. It is governed by an independent board of directors appointed by the chairman of the TSUS Board of Regents.
