Donavan Brown of San Marcos, Texas, was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in May 2025 to a one-year term on the Texas State University System Board of Regents. Student Regent Brown is a senior at Texas State University, double majoring in mechanical engineering and computer science with a minor in mathematics. He has held several leadership roles in the Texas State Student Government Association, including student body vice president, senator-at-large and parliamentarian, where he focused on advancing student engagement and success. Student Regent Brown is active in campus life through ministries such as YoungLife and Crosstalk and is a member of the Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX) fraternity. He has completed internships with a counter-drone defense startup founded by a Texas State alumnus and at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in astronautics.
