Elizabeth Diaz Arreola of Dayton, Texas, was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in May 2026 to a one-year term on the Texas State University System Board of Regents. Student Regent Diaz Arreola is a senior at Lamar University, majoring in exercise science with minors in honors studies and psychology and a concentration in pre-physician assistant studies. She has held several leadership roles across campus and is focused on advancing student success and engagement throughout Lamar University. Student Regent Diaz Arreola is active in campus life as a Lamar University Ambassador, College of Education and Human Development Ambassador, and Orientation Leader, where she helps students transition to college and promotes student involvement. She has completed an internship through the Texas Legislative Internship Program, focusing on public service at the Texas State Capitol, and also works at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, where she cares for patients in various capacities. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and become a practicing physician assistant specializing in pediatrics.
