Johnny R. Weisman of New Braunfels, Texas, was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in April 2026 to a five-year term on the Texas State University System Board of Regents. He earned a a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas State University in 1972. 

Regent Weisman is the owner and president of Hunter Industries and has more than 40 years of experience owning and operating businesses that support the construction and expansion of roadway infrastructure across state and federal highway systems. His work spans aggregate production, hot mix asphalt, and equipment maintenance, serving both commercial and highway construction needs.

A recognized leader in the industry, Regent Weisman is a member and former president of the Associated General Contractors of Texas, where he also chaired numerous committees and task forces. During his first term as president, the organization was named Chapter of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of America. In 2018, he received the L.P. “Pete” Gilvin Award, the organization’s highest honor. He is also a member of the Texas Asphalt and Pavement Association.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Regent Weisman is actively involved in his community. He volunteers with the Comal County Junior Livestock and Youth Show, Communities in Schools of South-Central Texas, and the New Braunfels Independent School District Education Foundation. Additionally, he served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War and received an Honorable Discharge. His term on the Board of Regents expires in 2031.
