The monumental stainless steel sculpture, Interstitium, by Mark Aeling of MGA Sculpture Studio, graces the landscape in front of Lamar State College Port Arthur’s Allied Health and Sciences Building. Aeling conceptualized and named the sculpture after the interstitium, a membrane that surrounds the organs and moves fluids throughout the body, connecting all its functions. Befitting an academic building housing programs focused on health, the sculpture’s form references the infinity symbol and Mobius strip, capturing the profound interconnected of health and life.
